Our Mission: To Provide a safe, structured program that includes socialization, proper nutrition, and health monitoring for adults in Lena and the Surrounding Communities; and also provide a support system for care givers.
The idea for The Friendship Center located at 511 W Lena St in Lena IL, came
from some of our friends and neighbors who were caring for an ill or elderly
loved one. They told us that they needed someplace, a safe place, an enjoyable
place, where their loved ones could spend some time when their families could
not be with them. We have worked hard to make The Friendship Center that place.
Our program nurses take good care of our clients and plan activities to make
the days interesting and fun. Lunch is served and a morning and an afternoon
snack are provided. We are also there to support you – the caregivers.
We have information and programs for you, including the caregivers support group
that is meeting the last day of each month at 1:30 PM. We just celebrated our
eighth anniversary. The center first opened on June 18th, 1998, after a year
of planning, for one day a week. We started with a handicapped accessible bus
and pick up service. We now are open five days a week. . Our hours are from
8 to 4, Monday thru Friday. Since we started we have served a total of 68 clients.
We pick up clients from the Freeport area, Orangeville, Winslow, Stockton, Pearl
City and the Lena area. Our pick up radius is 12 miles but we sometimes stretch
that a bit, depending on the need. If you would like to know more about The

of the program as a caregiver, care-receiver or volunteer. We are very pleased
to be able to offer an adult day service in the Lena and the surrounding area
